Dayavihar junior college (+2) and Dayavihar Degree College (+3)

Started in 1989 by NSP, both the colleges are spreading higher secondary as well degree standard of education to rural poor students. During 2022-23 around 2140 students were admitted. The pass out rate was 97%. Both the colleges are now aided by the Deptt. of Higher Education / School & Mass Education Deptt. These colleges are functioning over 10 acres of land. Last year, Dayavihar Degree College was awarded B+ by NACC for promoting quality education as a Beckon of Light.



Achievements

. Master in Social Work (MSW)

In the emerging need of revamping the social sector, suitable professionals need to be created throughout the globe. Undertaking the pursuit, NSP has established an institute of social work for this professional course since 2007 to promote rural voluntarism and professionalism. The institute is named as “Regional Institute of Social Science and Research” (RISSAR) and located within NSP’s HQ Campus at Kanas. The institute is affiliated to Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar and recognized by Govt. of Odisha. During 2022-23, a total of 43 students enrolled for post-graduation course i.e. Master in Social Work. This programme is not only increasing their passion for social work, but also adding value for their future growth. The students are given ample opportunity through conducting exposure visits and rural camps to enhance their knowledge, skill, attitude and practices (KSAP). From the inception to till date a total 387 students have successfully passed out from RISSAR. The pass out rate of students in past years dwindles in 90% to 95% with qualitative grades out of whom 72.5% professionals have been placed at different sectors so far.



Achievements

Disability Rehabilitation & Training Centre (DRTC)

Not only rehabilitation of the PWDs, but also creating highly educated human resources among them, NSP has been running this Training Centre since 2010. The training centre provides degree level professional courses such as B.Ed. Spl. Edn.(HI) with an intake capacity of 30 students, B.Ed. Spl. Edn.(ID)-30 students including diploma level courses such as D.Ed-Spl. Edn. (ID) - 30 students, D.Ed-Spl. Edn. (HI)- 30 students & D.Ed. Spl. Edn. (VI) - 25 students in the field of Disability Rehabilitation / Inclusive Education. The programme is a Self-financing course provided as a non-profit approach, which is affiliated by Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and got approval from Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi. 26 Students during a seminar organized by NSP Existing Strength and Admissions during the year: The program duration of all the above courses are of two years each. Existing Strength includes for B.Ed. Spl. Edn.(HI)- 29, D.Ed.Spl.(ID)- 10, D.Ed.Spl. Edn.(HI)- 30 and D.Ed. Spl.Edn.(VI) - 14, D.Ed.Spl.(ID)- 26 (2022-2023).



Achievements
  • Training Curriculum Development: RCI approved course curriculum has been prepared for the students and accordingly, they are taught for Theory and Practical classes. Seminars, Exposure visits to different Schools/Rehabilitation Projects, Participation in Community Meeting, Medical Camps and Community Development Programmes etc. were also organized during the year. ? Continuing Rehabilitation and Education (CRE): A Continuing Rehabilitation and Education (CRE) programme was conducted for 30 RCI registered professional on “Multisensory Approaches in Pre School Education”.
  • Advanced Certificate Course in Inclusive Education (ACCIE): A Six months RCI approved “Advanced Certificate Course in Inclusive Education (ACCIE)” was conducted for 30 in-services Special Educator. There are about 26 candidates completed the course and got 100 CRE point each for renewal of their registration in Central Rehabilitation Register of RCI. ? Internship Program: DP MISHRA INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCE STUDIES IN SPECIAL EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY, KODALA, GANJAM visited our training Centre for one-month practicum internship training programme towards obtaining practical experience.

  •  Cumulative/Progressive Achievements: The DRTC has covered a total 734 candidates since its inception out of them 85 nos. trainees have been able to engage themselves as teachers (in SSA under inclusive set up) and Special Educators (in Special School of Odisha state).
